Mission Complete

The day has finally come for me to have completed my mission. I have meet some pretty amazing elders and sister missionaries both old and young. I will never forget the memories that I've had with them on this mission. It is both a sad and happy day for me. I have enjoyed my time in this young church service mission as a missionary. Last day here at the Records Operation Center has been a blessing in words that I can't describe how. 

I will miss all the friendships that I have developed over the last year and a half. All the laughs and moments that I want to share with others. Everyone is different when they first start their own journey. In the words of my favorite song by Rascal Flatts 

"On your knees, you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand, then you stand

Twelve and Thirteen Months

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

Sister Barton here with her weekly report on how the mission is going. The mission is good and at times it is very interesting especially when you get a weird name that is placed on a record. Lately, the Records Operation Center (ROC) has been assigned to participate in doing Marriages from Hamilton, Ohio and seeing how they are pretty interesting and what makes them intriguing is that some of them have social security numbers while others do not have these numbers.

 

Each day the projects are different and for most of it it takes some time to do the following tasks each day. Our schedule is the following outline:

Monday- usually these days are pretty laid back starting with the morning devotion at 9 am and then the afternoon devotional which is at 1 pm. Seeing how we can either do indexing, batching/reviewing, El Paso Audits, etc.

Tuesday- morning devotional at 9 am for those that are appointed to address the rest of the morning shift. District Meeting for the young church service missionaries. Plus, it is also the day to do Post Process Auditing and it takes a while but it is our main priority every Tuesday. After PPA's are done then we can go back to other projects and complete them. 

Wednesday- Morning devotional 9 am.If there are PPA's that are still available or still being worked on then and those that do not come in on Tuesday's do them on Wednesday. Then the afternoon devotional at 1 pm.

Thursday- Between the morning devotional and afternoon devotional we do scripture study as young church service missionaries. It is either before or after one of the devotionals. Also, we are free to do indexing/batching review, El Paso, or any other project.

Friday- Only have one devotional and it is in the morning. Along, with the hours of when the ROC is opened only till noon. Friday's are pretty simple and it is just like any other day here at the ROC. 

Lately, the mission field has been great especially with all the other missionaries including the YCSM and other couples/leaders. Seeing those that move on with their lives is pretty incredible especially the other YCSM that have completed their mission.

almost eleven months

Good Afternoon, 

Let's just say that last month marked me being on my service mission for 10 months. I am slowly coming up to eleven months. The ROC has been a blessing in my life and it has taught me many attributes or key components about family history work that I did not know. School is good and seeing how I am almost done with my sophomore year at Dixie State University. Can you believe that I have come a long way since the very first day I started my mission? where has the time gone?

Among other things about my mission it has taught me to be patient and everyone that knows me knows that I am not the best at being patient. Learning about some of the projects that the ROC does is forever inspiring.  

Along with every mission there have been new missionaries and ones that are getting released. I am pleased to say that it is an honor to serve with the St.George, Utah young church service missionaries and the cedar city service missionaries. These guys are truly amazing and they just keep on pushing themselves to do well. Among one of the missionaries that serves at the Family Search Center located right here in St. George, Utah I went to school with. You may have heard of him and his story. The kid from that story is none other than Brittion Shipp (Elder Shipp) #B4B. He has come along way since his accident that he had in high school. He is truly the best missionary/friend that still continues to inspire others. 

The ROC got some new leaders and since Brother and Sister Payne went home back to Idaho, their replacements are really nice. It is true what they say on how the lord puts people in our lives that are a challenge and by giving them a chance you get to know them. I am sad to see Elder and Sister McAra's. Of all the things that I will miss about them is the hugs that are given by sister McAra.

Seven months almost eight months on my mission

So I have been busy with my mission and work. I have recently started school back up and also I have registered for associates degree graduation. I have been on my mission for seven months last month and soon approaching eight months this month. I love my mission and how there are new missionaries that have come within these last few months.

Crazy to see how much time has gone by so fast within these last few months. With work however, it has been pretty busy and really intense when it comes to working Monday thru Friday and working on your birthday. Lets just say it has been nice to see so many different people and to ask those if they have been on missions. Also I do love to hear about others missions. Mainly, the best mission example or theme for the month is "Tender Mercies". How sad was it to find out that President Thomas S. Monson passed away last week.

Week 20-21

Mission life is good and I am loving every minute of my service mission and the best part is that I am in a very calm environment. If you are wondering the zone for the St.George Service mission goes to Cedar City, Utah. It reaches towns that are in southern Utah. Being a missionary has changed my idea of service to others and it has allowed me to help those that are looking for names to take to the temple. The Mission leaders that are in charge of the program are putting on a fireside for missionaries that serve in southern Utah for their parents and the missionaries.

Today is the monthly ROC luncheon where the those that work in the morning get to visit with the folks that come in the afternoon. Sadly I have class at 1 pm and they understand that I can not be there, but I am there in spirit. Being raised in the gospel has its perks and one of them is missions and how awesome are missions.

Week 18-20

Last week had zone conference and learned so much. The highlights consisted of new missionaries that are looking to serve for the lord. We have been given a choice to serve for the lord in our full time missions. Knowing so many missionaries that have influenced my life and want me to become better. A mission takes great sacrifice for almost anyone that has a desire to serve the lord. 

About two weeks ago I had the opportunity to spend some quality family time with extended family including my sister. Another blessing about my mission is that I can go to school, work, and still have time to serve the lord. This past month marks five glorious months on my service mission and to think I will be done with my mission next year. Life at the ROC is great and having this opportunity to serve with other missionaries that are couples or that are about my age. I love my mission and zone conference was super good this past week. If you find a post with my in it, just know it is from my mission with all the missionaries that are present, some are new and others have been there a while.

Weeks 15-18

Heyo,

Sorry for not having my weekly update each week of my mission. Just been really busy with school, work, and mission. In the last three weeks we have gotten several new missionaries here at the ROC that serve at other locations.

At the ROC I have counted that we have five or more new young church service missionaries. I am excited and the best part is that I know one of the missionaries that went to the same school as me. We have three that are from the DI here in town.

Not much to say at this point oh but wait I almost forgot Happy Missionary Appreciation day.
